Stillwater Hummingbird is a spot mural designed to enhance the animation of Stillwater Flowers by DAAS. The Stillwater is an apartment building at 57 Stillwater Avenue in Stamford Ct. Stillwater Flowers brings nature to an urban area with its imagery of bright flowers. When you hold a camera phone up to the mural, the flowers open, releasing pollen, and a hummingbird flies around the blossoms. The side of the building housing Stillwater Hummingbird has a very narrow strip of grass between the wall and a parking lot, not enough space to paint. Polytab provided a workaround: this canvas like material can be painted on indoors, and once dry, installed on the side of the building much like wallpaper, but able to withstand the elements. The young artists of Stamford Murals worked with me to paint and install this mural. Check out our installation on an extremely windy day!
